Description

This Cheesy Shrimp Sausage Bacon recipe is a rich and creamy one-pan comfort food. It combines tender shrimp, savory sausage, and crispy bacon with pasta and a decadent cheese sauce. It’s quick to make and perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz penne or rigatoni
  • Salt for pasta water
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 8 oz Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup white wine or chicken broth
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Extra parmesan cheese, for garnish
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon, leaving about 2 tbsp of bacon fat in the pan.
  3. Add Italian sausage to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through. Remove sausage and set aside with the bacon.
  4. Season shrimp with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook shrimp in the same pan for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add diced onion to the pan and sauté until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the white wine (or broth) and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add diced tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Lower heat to medium-low. Stir in heavy cream and cream cheese, whisking until smooth. Add parmesan and mozzarella, stirring until melted and creamy.
  8. Return bacon, sausage, and shrimp to the pan. Add cooked pasta and toss everything together. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time if the mixture seems too thick, until creamy.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  10. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and extra parmesan. Serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add more red pepper flakes or Cajun seasoning to the shrimp.
  • You can substitute other cheeses like cheddar or gouda for a different flavor.
  • If you don’t have Italian sausage, any spicy sausage will work.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and reheated with a splash of cream or milk.
