Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 4 soft flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes)
  • ½ cup diced red onions
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients by chopping the lettuce and tomatoes.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil for extra browning if desired.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet; smash down with a spatula and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3 minutes until browned.
  4. Flip patties and place cheese on top to melt.
  5. Warm tortillas in another pan or microwave for about 1 minute until pliable.
  6. Assemble tacos by placing beef patties in tortillas and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, and mustard.

Notes

  • Use high-fat ground beef for juicier burgers; leaner meat can dry out during cooking.
  • Always let your patties rest for a minute before serving to enhance flavor.
  • Warm tortillas slightly before filling to prevent tearing and improve texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheated gently in a skillet over low heat.
