Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 ¾ teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt or garlic salt (for topping)
Instructions

- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a 7-inch rope.
- Place ropes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush generously with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and salt (or garlic salt) immediately after baking.
Notes
- For a cheesy version, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top before baking.
- Add a pinch of crushed red pepper to the garlic butter for a spicy kick.
- Substitute half the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for heartier breadsticks.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
