Description

Crispy Vietnamese Style Shrimp Fritters with a tangy Nuoc Cham dipping sauce. These fritters are quick, easy, and perfect for an appetizer or light meal, capturing the essence of Vietnamese street food.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh shrimp, chopped
  • 1 cup Fresh herbs (cilantro, mint, or basil)
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour or rice flour
  • 1 large Egg or flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 cup Cold water
  • 2 tbsp Fish sauce or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • For Nuoc Cham Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp Fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Chop shrimp into small pieces and mix with fresh herbs.
  2. Whisk flour, fish sauce, egg, and cold water to make a smooth batter.
  3. Fold the shrimp and herb mixture into the batter.
  4. Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Mix fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and water for the dipping sauce until sugar dissolves.
  8. Serve the crispy Vietnamese Style Shrimp Fritters hot with the Nuoc Cham dipping sauce.
