Description

Conjure up some Halloween magic with these Witches’ Brew Halloween Cake Jars. Layers of rich chocolate cake and vibrant green buttercream are topped with whimsical fondant witch legs, making them a fun, festive, and portable treat for any spooky gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter (Salted)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups Self-Raising Flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • For the Buttercream:
  • 1/2 cup Butter (for Buttercream)
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Gel Food Coloring
  • For Decoration:
  • 4 ounces Orange Fondant
  • 4 ounces Black Fondant
  • 1 cup Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Fondant Witch Legs: Knead CMC into orange fondant until smooth. Roll into long strips, cut into desired shapes for witch legs, and add black stripes for detail. Shape small shoes from black fondant and attach them to the base of each leg. Let the assembled legs set overnight at room temperature.
  2. Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream together softened salted butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Gradually add eggs, mixing well after each addition. In a separate bowl, whisk together self-raising flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until smooth. Pour the batter into a greased cake tin and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Make the Buttercream: Beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, continuing to mix until the mixture is fluffy, approximately 5-7 minutes. Add vanilla extract and gel food coloring to achieve a vibrant green hue, mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. Assemble Cake Jars: Once the cake has cooled, carefully cut it into circles using a round cutter. In each jar, add a layer of cake followed by a layer of the vibrant green buttercream, repeating the process until the jar is filled, finishing with a buttercream layer on top. Decorate with Halloween-themed sprinkles for a fun touch. Finally, insert the fondant witch legs into the top layer of each jar for a whimsical finishing touch.
  5. Display and Serve: Place your Witches’ Brew Halloween Cake Jars on a festive platter or table for a spooktacular presentation.
