Description

Create fun and spooky Easy Cauldron Cookies for Halloween. These soft chocolate cookie cups are filled with vibrant green buttercream, resembling bubbling potions from a witch’s cauldron. Perfect for kids and parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Canola or Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Black Food Coloring (optional)
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Green Food Coloring
  • Green Sprinkles
  • Halloween Sprinkles
  • Candy Eyeballs
  • Pretzel Sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease mini muffin pans.
  2. In a bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and optional black food coloring. Mix until smooth.
  3. Spoon about 1/2 tablespoon of dough into each muffin cup and flatten gently.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Press the back of a measuring spoon into the center of warm cookies to create indentations.
  5. Cool cookies in pans for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until fluffy.
  7. Slowly add milk to achieve smooth buttercream consistency. Mix in green food coloring until desired color is reached.
  8. Pipe green buttercream into cooled cookie cups.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles, candy eyeballs, and pretzel sticks to resemble cauldron cookies.

Notes

  • Allow cookies to cool completely before filling to prevent buttercream from melting.
  • Start with a small amount of green food coloring and gradually add more for the desired shade.
  • Bake cookies until the centers are still slightly soft.
  • Decorate with various sprinkles and candy eyeballs for a festive look.
  • For a fudgier texture if using brownie batter, bake slightly longer.
