Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp chili paste (adjust to taste)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the beef strips in soy sauce, chili paste, minced garlic, and grated ginger for approximately 30 minutes.
- While the beef marinates, rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, then fluff it once done.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, and stir-fry until they are tender but still crisp, about 3–4 minutes.
- Increase the heat to high. Add the marinated beef strips to the pan, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Cook until the beef is golden brown and crispy on all sides, approximately 5 minutes.
- Once the beef is cooked, reduce the heat slightly. Add the cooked rice to the wok along with any remaining marinade from the beef. Toss everything together until well combined, about another minute or two.
- Transfer the Irresistible Crispy Chilli Beef Rice to serving plates. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- For the best crispy texture, ensure your pan is hot before adding the beef and avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Feel free to adjust the chili paste to your preferred spice level.
- You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or tenderloin.
- Add other vegetables like broccoli florets or snap peas for extra color and nutrition.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in a microwave or stir-fry in a pan with a splash of water to restore crispiness.
