Description

Enjoy a burst of flavor with Thai Basil Beef Rolls, a quick and healthy appetizer that satisfies your cravings with tender beef, aromatic Thai basil, and fresh vegetables wrapped in chewy rice paper.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground beef or thinly sliced steak
  • 1 cup Fresh Thai basil
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon Chili sauce or fresh chilis (to taste)
  • 8 sheets Rice paper wrappers
  • 1 cup Vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, carrots)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or sliced steak. Season with soy sauce and chili sauce. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and fully cooked.
  2. While the beef is cooking, fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip each rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10–15 seconds or until pliable. Lay the wrappers flat on a clean surface.
  3. Place a fresh basil leaf in the center of each softened rice paper wrapper. Spoon a small amount of the beef mixture on top of the basil, along with some crunchy vegetables.
  4. Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then tightly roll from the bottom to the top. Complete this process for all your fillings.
  5. Arrange the finished Thai Basil Beef Rolls on a serving platter. Enjoy fresh or serve with a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For best results, assemble and consume Thai Basil Beef Rolls fresh.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To freeze, wrap individual rolls tightly in plastic wrap, then place in a freezer bag for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
  • Practice makes perfect when rolling to avoid tearing the wrappers.
  • Consider adding crushed red pepper flakes to the beef mixture for extra spice.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces like spicy peanut sauce or zesty lime dipping sauce.
